Solje pin that may have belonged to Gjertrude.  It was found among her grandson Albert Peterson's belongings.  The  distinctly Norwegian solje pin is worn in particular at one's wedding & other important events.  The writer speculates that Gjertrude may have given this pin to her son Louis as a memento when Louis embarked for America.  Its center stone is missing.
